Stone Mountain Real Estate & Homes for Sale in Georgia

Stone Mountain is a place of wonder and awe and rightfully so as it is home to the world’s largest mass of exposed granite and the world’s largest relief carving. Located 16 miles east of Atlanta, Stone Mountain is part of DeKalb County, which includes nine distinct cities. DeKalb has a population of more than 600,000 people and Stone Mountain accounts for little more than 7,000 of the county’s residents, although nearly 50,000 live in the area. Many of the residents live in small communities like Pine Lake, a town of some 800 made up of musicians, writers, painters, sculptors and creative thinkers who revel in their city's uniqueness and diversity.

The public school system in DeKalb County is dedicated to preparing students for college, with nearly 70% of its students moving forward to attend 4-year colleges and universities. There are many fine colleges in the area including Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Kennesaw State University and Spelman College. Atlanta is home to several restaurants, museums, festivals, theaters, music venues, golf courses, amusement parks, sports stadiums and places rich with history and interest. Camping, family events, fishing, golf, hiking and tennis are some of the many things to do in and around the Stone Mountain area.
